What could be the cause of excessive Urination in the Elderly?!

Question: What could be the cause of excessive Urination in the Elderly!?
I am the care taker of a 97 yr!. Old shut in, who has recently been experiencing excessive urination!. I am thinking, it could either be diabetes (because she has a huge sweet tooth) or Kidney failure!. Because of her age, doctors will most likely not treat her and let nature take its course, and probably kill her if it was either of these two options!. Do you have any insight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I vote with the diabetes!. She should have at least a finger-stick glucose test done!. Does she have a regular family physician!? if she is otherwise healthy but does have high sugar, they could at least try some of the oral medications available!. Of course, dietary considerations would have to come into play, too, and she might choose what pleases her over medical treatment!. At her age, that would certainly be her option!. diabetes is a good guess, look for the thirst that cant be quenched, you can prob borrow a blood tester and check her sugar 1!.5 hrs after eating!. At that age watching diet will prob due fine!.

Also, women tend to loose the muscle down there, esp at that age!. Could just be that and she will need adult diapers!.

good luck!. Its not uncommon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
