Question: How to go about quitting smoking
im 17 and i smoke
i want to quit now so i dont end up as an ugly hag with cancer when im older
ive been trying on my own!. today i went 8 hours without a cigarette and i got so sick and light headed that i gave in
i know withdrawal is hard to handle but i need some kind of plan
any advice!?

Here are a few tips for you (this coming from an ex smoker)!.!.!.

Whenever you get a craving, sip on some water!. Instead of carrying cigarettes, carry a water bottle and a pack of gum!. Realize as well that cravings last only up to 2 minutes!.!.!. and you can get through that!.

The dizziness is because the oxygen is actually reaching areas that it should!. You deprive yourself of that when you light up!.

Your appetite will increase (smoking depresses the appetite) so eat smaller meals throughout the day and eat about every 3 hours!.

If your friends smoke, tell them you are quitting and not to give you one under any circumstances no matter how mad or whiny you get!.

You can also start to doodle on a piece of paper, walk around the block or do anything to keep yourself busy for 2 minutes to get through the craving!. Cravings will lessen over time and do get better with each day!.

I used it and swear I could not have done it without it!. It's free too which helps!. They have forums, 24/7 support and its people who are quitting and understand it all!. It also gives really good tips and you can ask questions!. There is a forum for younger quitters under 18!.!.!. so you can get or give support to people your age!. Take the time to look at it!.

Create a reason to quit smoking!. Set a Quit date, Have a quit buddy!. Personal tip have a friend that is quitting, do it together!. Come up with a game plan for situation that will come up!.
Step2
Find things to do other then smoke!. A easy way to quit is to make no smoking zones!. Also hide cash and credit cards!. Destroy ALL cigarettes and lighters!.
Step3
Stick to your guns!. On average it takes every smoke 3 attempts to quit smoking!. Try to set small goals to achieve the goal!.

its not gonna happen over-nite but you have to think positive and think about yout health and how long do you wanna live!. find something to do that makes you happy when you are tempted to smoke, 2) read about what smoking does to your lungs!. 3) if you have kids or planing on having kids: think about them, and ask yourself do you want them to smoke!. 4) in your daily/nightly prayers, ask God to take that habit away from you, and see what happens!. There are a thousand methods but only one that works!. Don't smoke!. Its sounds like I'm being sarcastic but I'm not!. Just don't do it!.

Getting lots of exercise and eating well will help!.

Planning to quit doesn't work!. You have to actually do it!.

Don't get mad at yourself and 'give up' if you relapse just quit again!.

Another tip is to avoid doing the things that you usually do when you smoke!. (ie - change your daily habits in other areas as well) Read about just how harmful it is in order to reinforce your motivation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
