And what does it cause!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Both of the previous answers are complete rubbish!.

A murmur is exactly that!. A sound!. It is the sound heard with a stethoscope caused by turbulence in the blood flow!. A soft murmur means the sound is soft (quiet) and therefore that it is not a very severe one!.

There are lots of different types of murmurs but they are all caused by turbulence in the blood flow!. The turbulence is caused by one of the valves in your heart or your arteries (pulmonary artery or aorta where they leave the heart) not working properly!. There are two possible problems!.
1) stenosis, where the valve is a little rigid and doesn't open fully so the blood has to squeeze through and makes a wooshing sound!.
2) regurgitation, where the valve doesn't close fully so some blood goes back through the valve as the heart relaxes and fills before the next beat!.

Neither need worry you particularly if you have no symptoms!. Your doctor may want to send you to a cardiologist, or he may just monitor you over time!. Don't panic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When the doctor hears a soft murmur in your heart it could be hypertention!. That is the sound of a small blood malfunction in the heart!. It is common so don't sweat it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think its like when your heartbeat is off just slightly or jumps occassionallyWww@Answer-Health@Com
