I have slight scoliosis like you!. I have had an achy back since I was about your age!.!.!.something I was always used to but never caused me too much pain!. I am pregnant now so my back hurts a lot!. My scoliosis has improved over the years but I still deal with some achiness!. It is possible it could get worse!. I dont think its something to worry about though!. Good luck!

Doing back exercises will def!. help!. I got a diagram of some from my doc!. There are also DVDs!. Its important to take care of your back!. I did not do my exercises when I was your age!. I also have bad posture!. Practice sitting up straight everyday!. That will help too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

While your scoliosis is not severe and should not be directly related to back pain it could potentially cause muscle imbalances (weak or tight muscles) that could cause back pain in the future!. Improper posture (due to poor habits or other) is heavily related to why so many people may experience shoulder or back pain later on in life!. While you can not correct that curvature you can still prevent back pain related to posture by maintaining your physical health and strengthening your back and core (abdominal muscles)!. I don't think you have anything to fear :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

If the curve stays below 40 degrees until the patient is finished growing, it is not likely to get worse later in life!. Keep current with your follow up appointments with your spine surgeon to monitor your curve!.

Mine upper curve is fused, but my lower is not fused but it stabilized in the 40s!. If I sleep too long I wake up a little achey, but it goes away as soon as I get up and get moving!. I'm supposed to take 1-2 Alleve at bed time, but us nurses are awful patients, so I don't do it regularly!.

Talk with your spine doc about getting a referral for a PT evaluation!. PT can place you on an appropriate program to strengthen your core muscles (abdominal and back)!. Phase 1 focuses on education, posture, and flexibility to decrease pain!. Phase 2 emphasizes strength and fitness activities to improve function!.

Scoliosis will affect you later in your life if you don't treat your back and shoulders wisely!. I've suffered from scoliosis myself, and I found that it isn't just fitness of the back and shoulders, but the neck, thighs, knees, and core as well!.

Strengthen your core enough that you won't need to draw on your back muscles more than you need to!. Also, work on your shoulder strength!. Running and cycling aren't the best activities for someone with scoliosis, but yoga and tai chi, if done wisely, can help you become less dependent on the muscles affected by scoliosis!.

Talk to you doctor about your concerns, because he/she will be able to give you the best information; your doctor knows you better than anyone here!. If your scoliosis starts to grow worse, consult a physical therapist; do NOT sit still all day!. It will only make it worse; I know that from harsh and painful experience!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

no u will not hurt later i know this because my sister has a 43 degree and have been to the doctorsmany times so she might have to get surgery and they said it wouldn't hurt in the futureWww@Answer-Health@Com

My mother has scoliosis with a small degree herself!. Her back is ok for the most part unless she lifts something heavy, you know, stuff that would usually hurt people's backs!. It really hasn't affected her too badly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
