Auto-immune illness and common sicknesses?!

Question: Auto-immune illness and common sicknesses!?
I have Multiple Sclerosis, I was diagnosed with it in 2003, and I keep hearing that in general, people with auto-iumme illnesses, such as mine, don't tend to recover from common sicknesses!. For example, a cold!.!.!. or the flu, or even seasonal allergies!.

Is this true!? Cause as of the last two week, I have been dealing with a really bad allergy attack that I'm having a problem getting rid of!. Constant sneezing, blowing my nose and coughing!. The coughing is the worst out of it!. I do have a build up of mucus in my throat that is causing the cough!. Other than suffering these things, I feel absolutely fine!.

I have been taking Alka-seltzer Mucus and Congestion, Mucinex, Beneadryl along with Tez with honey and lemon juice and thought things are definitely better than they were this day last week, the cough is still persistent!.

I'm on the verge of going to the doctors for this isn't really trying my patience, but I just don't know what a doctor will do for this that I'm not already doing!.

Could this be sticking around a little longer than it should because I have an auto-immune disease, do you think!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes, colds, infections, etc tend to linger longer in those of us who are sick!. Our immune system is out of whack and the medications we take don't help!. I have lupus and have to take immunosuppressants so when I'm exposed to a virus/bacteria, if I contract it, it stays around!.
I had bronchitis for 8 weeks this year- 3 different antibiotics, steroids, breathing treatments, inhalers, etc!. It wasn't fun!.

I'm religious about washing my hands, using hand sanitzer, making my kids wash theirs, etc, etc!. And I try to be as healthy as I can!.

Raw honey and lemon juice is very effective in boosting compromised immune systems or cinnamon and honey!. Consider the old fashioned remedies before you run off to the doctor!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Coughs can persist for weeks even after you have fought off an upper respiratory tract infection!. As long as you are feeling generally well, aren't getting short of breath, and the sputum you are coughing up is not thick yellow and green +/- any blood I wouldn't worry at the moment!. If you think it is more allergy related (like hay fever) think about whether you are having continued exposure to the allergen!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
