Don't you have to have a physical for school!? Maybe you should join the gymnastics team or some other sport - you'll have to have a physical before you'll be allowed to participate! (I know - if you're not already athletic, this one ain't gonna fly!.)

I know it's frustrating when no one's listening!. But you are right in that symptoms of Type I diabetes can show up slowly and over a period of time!. That's because in some diabetics, their pancreas doesn't stop producing insulin all at once!. My husband's symptoms crept up on us over a 6-month period, one symptom at a time, and they were easy to explain away!. Always tired!? Well gee, he was working 12-hour days Monday through Friday and usually putting in another 8 to 20 hours on weekends!. Thirsty!? We bought our first house 3 months before his diagnosis!. It was 30 years old and had no air conditioning!. Of course he was thirsty - he needed the water to stay cool!. I was drinking more water, too!. Peed a lot - yeah, because he drank more water!. The hunger part didn't show up until a month or so before the diagnosis!. He had never been a breakfast eater, but when I went on maternity leave I started fixing his breakfast every day!. I figured he was hungry more often because he was finally feeding his body the way it needed to be fed! He was tiny - only 110 lbs - and needed to gain another 20 pounds anyway!.

If your mom isn't seeing your symptoms, it could be that they've come up so gradually that now they seem normal, just like with my husband!. Or it could truly be that she's keeping a careful eye on you and doesn't see anything unusual in what you eat or drink or how often you go to the bathroom!. So why don't you try talking to your school nurse!? She'll be better able to evaluate your symptoms and talk to your mom if a doctor's visit is warranted!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First off, you need to TRUST your parents!.
But you ALSO need to INSIST that they have you tested!.

Ask the doctor to do one simple test, first!. Tghis is called the HbA1C test (or just A1C)!. This is a very simple blood test that most doctors do in their office in 5-10 minutes IF they have the materials!. Otherwise, they'll need to send a blood sample to the lab for 2-3 days!.

A1C test takes an average blood suagr level from the last 90 days!. A NORMAL reading is between 5 and 6!. if you reading is normal then you probably DO NOT have diabetes!.

If the A1C reading is above 7, then the doctor should perform a second test called Glucose Tolerance Test!. This is a more complicated test, and will require you to stay in the doctors office for 3-4 hours!.

If the Glucose Tolerance Test says that you are diabetic, then you ARE diabetic, and you need to start treatment immediately!.

If the A1C is great than 7, but the Glucose Tolerance Test says that you are not diabetic, then you might have HYPERGLYCEMIA -- too high blood sugar!.

In this case you need to watch your diet (cut out sugary food like colas and ice cream and cakes and cadny and pie !. !. !.) and eat less bread, crackers, and pasta!. Eat more fiber (vroccoli and saldas), get more exercise (stop playing video games and start playing basketball or soccer)

BUT !. !. !. !.

About half of your symptoms sound like HYPOGLYCEMIA -- blood sugar is too low -- the exact opposite of diabetes!.

The A1C test can tell that, too!. If the A1C test is below 5, then you might be hypoglycemic!. In this cas you need to eat a better balanced diet!. Still reduce the amount of sugary foods, but eat more starches (breads) and proteins (meat)!.

In any case!. ALWAYS follow your doctors orders exactly!

I do have diabetes but I have type 1!. I get those symptoms! I can get irritable fast!. I wouldn't wait to see a dr because your symptoms could get worse!.

Please tell your mom or just show her your post!. Its better to feel better then not at all!.

I hate diabetes because I hate having to go to the bathroom all the time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

How old are you!? This sounds like type 1 but you need a blood test to be sure!. The test is easy and painless!. Tell your mom!. You should be able to discuss anything with your mom!. If you do have type 1 then there should be some treatment otherwise it could become more serious!. DonWww@Answer-Health@Com
