Answers:
I prefer extra dry white wines they are not as sweet!. Alcohol tends to lower your blood sugars because your liver cannot process sugar while it is processing alcohol so be careful of not dropping too low!. 1 serving for women 2 for men is the recommendation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Red wines actually can beneficial for your heart!

Talk to the doctor who manages your diabetes and see what he thinks about alcohol!. My husband has been insulin-dependent for nearly 30 years, and even now his endocrinologist recommends no more than one 4-ounce glass of wine in a day, and no more than 2 in a week!. He told us that in his experience with diabetics, alcohol on a daily basis causes problems in the long term!. He said he does make exceptions from time to time, depending on the patient!. But as a rule of thumb, 4 ounces of beer or wine no more than twice a week is his standard answer!.

Does that mean we always followed that rule!? Of course not!. And it doesn't take long for you to figure out how much your blood sugar is going to drop after 1 or 2 or 3 glasses of wine or beer!. Just be sure you have a "designated observer" handy, because if your blood sugar bottoms out due to the alcohol, you need someone around who can get you some juice in a hurry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i've found red wines to be a better bet than whites, especially sweet whites ( i avoid rieslings and gevirtz pretty much always)!. otherwise i just up my insulin a bit to go with a glass -- one thing to watch out for is that for me, and i know it's somewhat common, the alcohol itself can actually lower your blood sugar, so just keep a closer eye on it than usual!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They all have sugar in them!. If you are type one you can adjust your insulin a bit to anticipate it!. If you are type two, you may be able to subsitute something in your regular meal for the wine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Actually the ADA recommends that men have no more than two beers, glasses of wine or mixed drinks per day and women can have only one per day!. So, any wine that you might want to try can be used safely in small quantities!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
