Girlfriends mother told there is nothing they can do (Austio Arthritis)?!

Question: Girlfriends mother told there is nothing they can do (Austio Arthritis)!?
My girlfriends mother has been told that there is nothing that can be done now, but does anyone know if there is something!.!.!.!.!.!.!.
this is what my girlfriend said!.!.!.!.

"She has austio arthritis in all of her joints, her ankles knees and hips are all out of line!.

There is sevre inflammation to her knees,

Her problem started with condimalasher (I spelt that as it sound) of the patella (lack of cartilage so her bone was rubbing the back of her knee cap)

She had an operation that drilled holes in to her knee caps supposably to relieve the pressure of the inflammation but we have since been told this has caused irreversible damage!."

she has been like this for about 13 years I would say, and uses a wheelchair 9/10, and can just get up and about on crutches but cant get up any steps and needs to sit down after 10mins because all her weight is on her wrists!. Her knees cant take any weight!.

She take a load of pills, (I'm not sure which ones) but I think most are painkillers, but prescribed ones!. about 4 pills, 3 times a day!.

She is only 47yrs old and I think this is a waste of a good persons life!.
She was fine before that, and my girlfriend had been looking after her since the age of 13yrs!.

Is there any treatment/operations which could sort this and could you point me in the right direction to find out more!?

We are in the UK and have the NHS but have been looking privately also!.

thank you for any responses!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
condramalatia patalle - basically the kneecap floats around!.

Once damage has been done by arthritis it cannot be reversed!. Joints can be replaced to relieve pain, pain killers can also be given and anti-inflammatories to reduce swelling!.

She should be seen by a Rhumatologist on a regular basis and possibly referred to a pain clinic!. Physiotherapy can be used to keep mobility!.

The problem with joint replacements is they do not last forever and have to be replaced after 10 - 20 years and can only be replaced once (i think, although things might have changed recently)!.

Is i her GP who has said nothing can be done!? If so insist on a referal to a rhumatologist!. If the GP won't do this you can do a sneaky littlet trick, you book an initial appointment at a private hospital (
