For home remedies, hydrogen peroxide has been reported to work, and of course is really cheap!.
If drug store products are an option, Neutrogena's benzoyl peroxide cream has a lower percetage than most creams, so is less irritating, but seems to work as well or better than the ones with more medication in them! They also make several products with salicylic acid in them, and the combo of those two ingredient from products (at different times) might be the best bet for over the counter choices!.
