Answers:
saline is the best thing!. don't use rubbing alcohol or anything like that because it will only dry it out!.

they have this stuff in the drug store called Blairex wound wash!. It comes in a spray can, and it's the best!. You can take some and spray it on a cotton round or ball and let it soak for 5 minutes after you shower, and 10 minutes any other time!. don't clean it more than three times a day, over cleaning can prevent a piercing from healing just as much as under cleaning!.

after you've held the cotton saturated with the saline wash on your wound, take the can and hold it up to your wound and spray it for about 3 seconds!. blairex is perfect because it comes out at a speed that clears debris as it's being sprayed, but doesn't hurt, it's cool and feels good!. do this everyday and it will eventually heal, and you can do it less and less!.

since it's an industrial, don't twist the piercing while cleaning it, this can cause the dried ooze (my former piercer called them "crusties") to get inside the piercing and damage skin tissue underneath, causing keloids!.

hope I could be of some help to you!

edit: i notice your first answerer said to use a mild soap!. i would not advise that, as soaps are meant to be used to sanitize the skin outside of your body, and aren't meant to be carried inside the body through wounds (because essentially, what you have is a puncture wound)!. this will only dry out the piercing more and make it take longer to heal!. the woman who did some of my earlier piercings told me to use an antibacterial soap like dial, i did, and both times they got infected!. i went to a new piercer, they advised me to use blairex (saline solutions) and i haven't had a piercing get infected since!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The best way to clean and maintain a piercing is with saline solution (!.9% sterile isotonic solution of "normal saline"; no additives or preservatives) or warm sea salt water that you can make yourself!. There are also some commercial sprays and solutions available; just make sure there are no preservatives!.

If you suspect that your piercing is infected, you should keep the jewelry in (to avoid an abscess) and you should see your physician to determine the severity of the infection!. If it is hot, very red, smells, has a great deal of discharge or you start to feel generally ill, you may need antibiotics and should get to a physician right away!.

If the infection is relatively minor, you can continue cleaning the piercing with saline solution!. Do not use antibacterial hand soap, as this will dry the skin out and make healing difficult!. There are some medical antimicrobial soaps such as Satin or Provon that can be used if you want something slightly stronger, but they shouldn't be used too often for the same reason!. Do NOT use rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, Betadine, Hibiclens or ointment!.

You should also change your pillowcase every night and keep any hair away from the piercing!. Wash your hands throughly before touching your piercing!.

Please check the Association of Professional Piercers page for more information!. Good luck and get better!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Use a mild soap such as Provon twice a day!. Use sea salt soaks through out the day!. You can search the term to find proper proportions!. Don't touch the piercing and try to keep hair and styling products away from it!. Go see your piercer and hope you picked a good one!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
