How vigilant are you wearing your medic alert bracelet/necklace?!

Question: How vigilant are you wearing your medic alert bracelet/necklace!?
Answers:
I never take mine off!. I was given a medic alert necklace that is really quite beautiful (get lots of compliments on it)!. I wear a pump so the message on back says "diabetic wearing an insulin pump"!. It's so important if you can't speak that your medic alert jewelry does!. I think emergency responders would be looking for medic alert before searching out a pump!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

As hard as it is to get off, I just keep it on all the time!. I got the titanium one so it's fine in the shower and everything!. The only time I took it off was on my wedding day, and the clasp was so tight we had to cut it off with a wire cutter!. Then I had to send it back to Medic Alert so they could put a new clasp on, which thankfully they did for free!.

Now that I have a pump, I wonder if it's necessary to wear it anymore!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wear my bracelet often!. If you drive, think about it!. When your blood glucose is low, what happens!? You get dizzy, light-headed, your breath can smell pretty funky, and your speech is slurred!. What does that sound like to you!? Drunk, that's what!. I had a friend who was driving home and didn't wear her bracelet!. Her vision blurred and she swerved on the road!. An officer pulled her over and had her walk the line, which she couldn't do!. She tried to explain, but slurred her words and she had not medical bracelet!. No bracelet, no proof!. She died in the drug tank!. So I say that you should wear it at least when your driving!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I never wear one!. I ususally make sure that someone around me knows I am, but even if I were to pass out, it is pretty standard for EMTs to check your sugar!. My license does have a "medical alert:Y" on it, if that counts!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wear it when I go out of town or go to do something that could result in a low and I'm with people who don't know I have diabetes or if I am alone!. I should wear it more! I am a Type 1 Diabetic and wear an insulin pump!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am a gestational diabetic type 1 and never really thought about it wearing one!. I guess I should though!. Its best to, just incase you pass out in public! at least carry your meter with you!Www@Answer-Health@Com
