Hives lasting 2 weeks?!

Question: Hives lasting 2 weeks!?
I was told I had "an allergic reaction" rash 2 weeks ago!. They still keep multiplying and itch like crazy!. I had a shot of cortisone (helped for a few hours with the itching), I've been on Predisone, benadryl, hyrdocortonsone cream, Zyrtec and none have helped!. I keep calling the doctor, but he hasn't called me back in 3 days! It is spreading very quickly and the itching is driving me crazy!. What should I do!?

(I'm NOT going to the ER, Our local ER's are absolutely no help!. Last time I went they said they don't deal with that and told me to go home)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well it seems like you are using everything that I could think of!. I guess if you have tried any new products lately, you should discontinue your use!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That seems like a long time for the rash to be caused by an allergic reaction, unless you're still exposing yourself to whatever triggered it!.

You may have another skin disorder such as eczema!. For most skin problems, keeping your skin healthy and avoiding irritants is your best bet!. If you have dry skin, use lotion regularly especially after washing!. Do not scratch as this damages the skin!. Warm showers (not hot!) are best as the hotter the water, the more it'll remove natural oils from your skin!. A good lotion like cetaphil can keep your skin healthy and thus reduce itching!.

Regarding avoiding irritants, perfumes, deodorants, laundry detergents, and fabric softeners can all be problems!. Soaps as well, something like Aveeno body wash is one I found to be very non-irritating!.

Depending on how widespread the hives are, ice backs can calm the itching!. In addition stress can be a trigger, so relax! Best of luck in a speedy recovery!.
