Question: Colitis Question!?!?!?!?!?!?
What kinds of gravies are there that don't include lactose or milk!?!?!?My sis has colitis and can't have milk in any way!.!.!.!.!.!.How do you make gravy made out of water without milk!?!?!?Please help!.!.!.!.!.!.Any please if you can name some dinners breakfasts and lunches that she can eat without lactose and milk please!!! I already kno wat she can and cannot have but my mom can't figure out what to cook for her and is having a hard time with it please help!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

hi aly, I am a crohnie (it's a type of IBD like Ulcerative Colitis) for 28 yrs!.
I can not tolerate regular milk but they do have lactose free milk made by Lactaid in the dairy aisle at your grocer's!. Your sister will be able to tolerate that b/c there is no lactose in it to cause any problems!.
I learned about it yrs!. ago while I was in the hospital and met with a registered dietician who told me about it!.
For more great information, check out the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's website!. They have tons of info ranging from diet, surgery, newer meds, to locating a local CCFA chapter near you!. They also have a live chat & hotline that is run by healthcare experts during the week as well as an open forum where family members and friends can post questions to others w/IBD!.
FYI: I cook and bake w/lactose free milk and my husband makes an awesome gravy with it!. Give it a try!. Some stores even carry their own generic lactose free brand that is much cheaper than the Lactaid brand!. I provided a link for you for Lactaid!. They have recipes you can use!.
