Can you get really tired when you have diabetes.?!

Question: Can you get really tired when you have diabetes!.!?
Well ya my husband's mom and I went to dinner one night catching up, my husband died in february, but I left him in november for narcotic abuse and he was just mean and did really hurtful things, but ya well at dinner trying to give her anohter chance cause she's done mean things too we went to a buffet, and she was fallin asleep eating, it was like bringing old memories back where I had to babysit my husband!. But she claims it's her diabetes acting up, I think that she took something, wither pain pills or maybe a sleeping pill, she used to abuse pills also, I don;t know the difference, problem is I got a 11 month old daughter, and she's not showing me she's suitable to be around her right now!. So any help would be appreciated!. Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree, I think she's just making excuses!. High and low blood sugars can make you tired, but not to the point where you're falling asleep when you're eating!. The tiredness you get with a low is the kind of tiredness that could be fixed with a quick 30-60 minute nap (thats for someone who's not diabetic!. Naps don't fix lows for diabetics! Just giving an idea of what its like)!. Tiredness from high blood sugars is the kind of tiredness you might get if you haven't slept well at night for 2 or 3 nights!. Maybe she hasn't slept at all for a while!? When I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, my blood sugar was 630 (normal is 80-120)!. I felt exhausted even after 12 hours of sleep, but I stayed awake through every meal and went to school from 8am-3pm without falling sleep!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes diabetes can make you really tired if you aren't managing it properly!.!.!.but falling asleep when you're out having a meal - I don't think so!.

It sounds like she's making excuses and you are right to keep your daughter away from her until she can prove to you that she is a responsible adult!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Extremely low can make a person sleepy!. So can a high if ketoacidotic!. But she would've treated it!. If she didn't give herself insulin or drink a coke, to treat a high or a low, then it wasn't her diabetes doing it!. Just an excuse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Diabeties if not treated properly can not only cause tiredness but confusion!. If you want to trust mom re: care of your daughter I would ask her what she & her doctor are doing to control it!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes a diabetes can get very tired due to sugar level!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

sounds like she is making excuses, don't trust her with your child!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
