Answers:
I dont know to correlate them, but I work in a hospital lab and also draw blood!.

We do all the glucometer testing on patients and then if they're above 450 we do a blood test!. Personally i think they correlate rather well, and are maybe off by 10-15%, but not much more!. Clinically, as far as treatment, that's not going to make a huge difference!. The important thing when using the hand meters is to make sure your finger tips are clean!

It's hard to correlate with all glucose lab machines because each one is different and has different values that correlate with it!.

The only standards they have in the manufacture of glucometers is that they sort of test blood glucose!.

When you go to the lab to have your glucose tested, test also with your meter!. Figure the difference in the two readings if you are insulin user!.

Most meters are within 20 percent of the lab equipment!. Some however can be off 100 points!. It isn't just the test strips!.

However, you can test each finger, and the alternate sites and get that many different readings too!. It is just the way the world goes!.

I use 2 glucometers, one in my purse and one on my desk!. they are by the same company!. And they are the closest to the lab my insurance likes!Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of, there are a reat deal of differences between "finger stick" meters -- maybe as much as 20 points!. I was recently hospitalized, so I "clockedx" my personal meter against those used by the hospital -- 5 to 20 points difference, up or down, unpredictable!. This is largely due to the difference in the TEST STRIPS used, I think!.

The laboratory results are much more accurate!. [I assume you mean when they take a bit in a test tube from you forearm or elbow!.!.!.] The equipment is "laboratory grade", y'a know!. !. !.

The point is, you should be OK if you use the same meter all the time!. Don;t worry about the comparisions, worry about how your readings compare with other readings from your meter!.
