How do I get rid of ugly black cane scars on my belly, put there 28 years ago?!

Question: How do I get rid of ugly black cane scars on my belly, put there 28 years ago!?
I am a 39 year old male and for a long time I have been ashamed to be seen shirtless by anybody else but my wife and my siblings!. It is because of a 10in x 8in pattern of criss crossing black straight lines on the front of my belly put there 28 years ago by the class teacher I had when I was 11 years old and growing up in Jamaica!. In Jamaican primary schools corporal punishment was doled out by teachers on a daily basis to maintain order and to encourage learning!. My teacher Ms Lawson used a cane to maintain discipline in her class!.

In 1980 as a result of overeating I was obese and had a belly as big as two beach balls put end to end!. My belly hung two feet over my pants and I could only do the top (chest) buttons on my shirt!. Similarly my T-shirts could only cover as much as three inches above my navel!. So that is how I went to school!.
Whenever I came to class late, helped somebody else cheat or messed up, Ms Lawson would cane me on my belly until weals and bruises were left!. Between March and June of 1980 she caned me at least 10 times!. By June everybody noticed the dense black cane scars on my belly which seemed to intersect at my navel!. The overall sentiment among the village residents then was that my belly was too enormous and I deserved the canings!.

Time has passed and although the cane scars have diminished in their intensity, they are still visible!. Is there some sort of abrasive cream that I can buy to remove them!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oh - you poor man! I can't begin to imagine the abuse you suffered and my heart just aches for you!

You might be able to use some exfoliating creams (get the kind that is made to use on the feet)!. I recently had surgery on my knee & ankle and I've been using Cod Liver Oil on the incisions/scars - you might try using that AFTER you use the exfoliating cream!.

Since you're from Jamaica - I'm guessing your skin is dark and you need to be careful with skin that has more pigment (ie, bleaching one area might take away some of the dark marks - but then you're left with a lighter "blotch" on your skin - and that really doesn't solve the problem)!.

My best advice to you would be to see a Dermatologist!. They are used to dealing with burn victims and would probably be able to use lasers to help reduce some of the scares!.

You deserve to move ahead in your life and getting rid of the marks will make such a great difference for you - even if no one ever sees it, YOU will see the results of taking action and "clearing out" this ghost!

Best of luck to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mederma is a topical cream that you can purchase at any drug store and it's suppose to be the best ointment there is out there for the reduction of the appearance of scars!. It might help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you're in England, one of these could help:

Bio Oil from Boots or Superdrug

Palmers scar reduction serum available in Boots

Vitamin E oil from the Body Shop

Scar reduction patches - these can take a long time to work and depend on the scar/s

Silicon gell/dermatix - on prescriptionWww@Answer-Health@Com
