Is it normal for a recovering alcoholic who has been sober for 2 yrs to go to AA!

Question: Is it normal for a recovering alcoholic who has been sober for 2 yrs to go to AA meetngs 4x a week!?
Answers:
It is fairly typical, yes, and highly encouraged within the group!. In fact, it is not uncommon for people who have been much longer in AA to go to this many meetings, or more!.

Is this a good thing!? Personally I do not think so; I think it represents an unhealthy dependency on the group!. But through the use of slogans such as "meeting makers make it" and "we alcoholics are quick forgetters, so we need lots of meetings" etc!. the constant meetings are definitely encouraged!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I knew someone who went almost every single night!. It was kind of like he was addicted to AA, in a way!. That being said, he was much better off going to AA than he was drinking all the time!.

I don't know how common it is percentage-wise!. Why not call AA and ask!? They also have meetings for people who are friends/family of alcoholics, that might be helpful in your understanding this person!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, it is perfectly normal, a good thing, and absolutely necessary for some!. The saying is "Meeting makers make it!."Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would think that each individual's needs would vary!.!.!.!.!.but if this person thinks that they need to go 4x a week, then I think that they should!. Maybe that is what has kept them sober for 2 years!Www@Answer-Health@Com
