My symptoms were extreme thirst (got to the point were I could drink 40oz of water in 15 minutes and still feel super thirsty), lost a lot of weight, loss of appetite (I dont remember ever having extreme hunger even though extreme hunger is a symptom), frequent urination (went 4-5 times a night a lot), and blurred vision!.

I don't know why sue doesn't think it could be type 1!. If you are diabetic, I would say you're type 1 because of you're age and weight!. If you're 14 and overweight, or a little bit older, then maybe type 2 (and yes, I know you can eat healthy and be at a healthy weight all you're life and still get type 2)!. You don't need to be rushed to the ER and put in ICU in a coma before you're diagnosed with type 1!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 16!.
My first symptoms were really thirsty, getting up during the night to drink and drinking excessively all day long!.
And frequent urination - having to go ALL the time, and getting up during the night to pee also!.
Hungry all the time, eating plenty of food (more than I needed to) and losing heaps of weight in a short period of time!. I lost 12kg in about 3-4 weeks (not sure what that is in pounds sorry)!.
Mood swings, fatigue - felt like I couldn't run from a bushfire!.
Looked really unwell according to my family!.

So if you think you may have some of the symptoms, then go to the doctor, you don't want to wait around to find out and trust me, its not the end of the world if you do have it!.

Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like you may be experiencing the symptoms of diabetes!. Don't listen to the people who tell you that because you are slender you do not have diabetes!. There are several types of diabetes and it sounds like you may have type 1 diabetes mellitus!. The peak onset of this form of diabetes often occurs between the ages of 11-13 but can occur at any age!. Excessive thirst, excessive urination, hunger, weight loss, and fatigue are all symptoms of diabetes!. The tingling in your hands sounds like you are also experiencing diabetic sensory neuropathy!. Control of blood glucose is the only treatment for diabetes!. If your symptoms aren't addressed immediately, you could suffer from many of the complications associated with diabetes including diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic coma, death and/or amputation!. Please see your health care provider!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had a numb spot on the side of my knee and I was loosing weight really rapidly!.

You are right about the fact that diabetics aren't necessarily fat, and that doesn't apply to just type 1 people like Nick!. Over half the people diagnosed last year with type 2 were at or under correct weight for their height!. and had never been fat!.

The other half of that article was that over half of the people diagnosed last year were not your grandmothers age!! they were teenagers!.

Yes, you need to see the doctor to see what is wrong!. It could be diabetes, but not type 1 like Nick, I don't think!. It could also be some other endocrine problem as well!. There are a number of nasty diseases that can cause the symptoms you have!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They could be the symptoms of diabetes so you should get yourself to a doctor without delay!. Untreated diabetes can wreck every part of your body including your eyesight, your heart, your kidneys etc!.

If it isn't diabetes your doctor can run some tests to find out what is wrong!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
