I want a cat...but allergies?!

Question: I want a cat!.!.!.but allergies!?
I was never allergic to cats, and when I got older, I started getting itchy and puffy eyes!. Now I just get hives and rash-type things!. However, I really want a cat!. There's this cute kitten that's been offered to me, and my dad is okay with it but my mom thinks I'm going to like!.!.!.die or something, like my throat will close up!. But!.!.!.my reactions are just hives (sometimes lots, depending on where I touch and like if I'd just shaved like my legs or something)!. If I do get this kitty (i think she's long-haired), is there a chance my allergies could get worse!? I don't have asthma or anything but someone said I could develop it!.!.!.is this true!? can i really develop asthma or worsen my allergy!? i've heard somewhere that if I'm around a cat more I could get over the allergy!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you get hives you have pretty bad allergies!. I'm allergic to dogs!. My throat actually has closed up from them, my family had to rush me to CVS to get an inhaler!. I reallllllllly wanted a dog though!. It was the biggest mistake ever!. I can't touch my dog or else my allergies bother me 100 times worse then already!. I wake up in the middle of the night coughing because my throat gets all scratchy and allergie-y!. Basically I strongly advise against it!. Just volunteer at some pet rescue place and play with there Kitties!. Also, go to your doctor and tell them about your allergies!. I did and they gave me Zyrtec prescription strength works wayyy better then any allergie medicine I've ever had ever (I've tried them all trust me)

Hope this helps, please don't get the catWww@Answer-Health@Com

I can't really tell you from personal experience!. My dad had a cat and his allergies did turn into asthma from having it!. It was a long haired, never in its life got bathed or brushed kind of cat which he did have to get rid of!.

Yet at the same time, my boyfriend's brother is allergic to cats, so when we got a kitten he'd come over and play with it!. Whenever he'd touch his face, his face would start to get puffy and sometimes get hives!. Eventually, he started to wash his hands after he played with him, or would jump straight into the shower when he got home!. After a few weeks, he started to react less!. But then again, we had a short haired kitten and we bathed him probably way too often (i'm sorry, i'm sorry my cat lovers, but he kept getting poo EVERYWHERE)

So!.!.!. I guess it can go either way!. I think if you really beyond anything want a kitten, get a short-haired one and take care to groom it to avoid it shedding!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
