When is a UTI detectable?!

Question: When is a UTI detectable!?
I went to my OB on Wednesday!. On Thursday night I began having symptoms that I believe are caused by a UTI!. My genitals have a burning/stinging feeling constantly that is made worse during urination!. My doctors did a swab to test for STD's and such, and also did the normal urine tests!. Would they have been able to tell on Wednesday if I didn't have symptoms until Thursday!? My swab test results will be in tomorrow, but I thought that the test for a UTI was done on the urine!. Would they have told me!? I never asked because I had no problems until the next day!. Since I am pregnant, I am extra worriedWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
They probably did not do a urinalysis on your urine unless you told them that you had signs and symptoms of a UTI!. You probably need to go in and give them a urine sample tomorrow that they can run an urinalysis on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you didn't have to pee in a cup, then they didn't test for a UTI!. Go back to your doctor ASAP!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Dear Pregnant,
You do have cause to be concerned and take action within the next 24 hours!. The swab test for STDs and the usual urine tests do NOT test for the common bacteria (E!.coli) which causes 95% of UTIs!. It is possible that your UTI was not present when you visited your doctor but could DEFINITELY have developed by Thursday night!. NOW when you return to your ob doctor have him/her check a couple of drops of your urine with a rapid Urine DipStick strip which detects in about one minute the presence of bacteria and associated white blood cells (WBCs) that are found with a UTI!. If the strip test is positive you will likely be started on an appropriate antibiotic for the UTI!. Do not delay!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
