I gave my bf a cold sore and..?!

Question: I gave my bf a cold sore and!.!.!?
Ok, now this is really hard to ask, but I'm quite worried!.

A few days ago, a gave my bf a bj, then the next day he told me he had a cold sore on his mouth from kissing me!. Now I thought I had a cold sore a few days before, but it looked as if it was totally gone, and couldn't see anything of it!. So I forgot all about it, not thinking I still had it!.

So I know that it wasn't like bursting out and it wasn't pussing, and my bf said it was like just a little cold sore!.
So do you think there's a big chance of him getting herpes, like down there!? I'm really nervous atm, and I know none of you are doctors, but maybe you'd be able to help!?

Thanks for you help!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think that there is much chance - but you are right to be very careful about never giving him oral sex when you have a cold sore!. As you know, it is possible for either strain of herpes (HSV1 or HSV2) to infect either the genitals or the mouth!.

It takes a couple of days for the herpes virus to "set up shop" and for symptoms to emerge!. The fact that he got his sore the very next day makes it unlikely that he got herpes from you!. Also, the fact that your cold sore was gone means that you probably (although not definitely) weren't infectious!.

The good news!? If you did somehow give him oral herpes, and you are careful over the next six months or so while his body builds up antibodies, it will be next to impossible for you to give him that same strain of herpes on his genitals!.

For more info on herpes, I strongly recommend the website below!. It will give you lots of reliable information (unlike some folks on Y!A)!. Good luck!.

The chance is not very big, no!. There is Herpes 1 and Herpes 2!. Herpes 1 causes cold sores, and doesn't grow very well on the genitals!. Herpes 2 is responsible for most genital herpes infections!.

Well, think of it this way - 70% of people over 20 have cold sores (Herpes 1), but most people don't have genital herpes!.

It CAN happen, but I wouldn't worry too much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

cold sores don't have to be big pussing sores, they can be little red marks around the mouth!. but they are oral herpes and they can be passed to the genitals!.
if it was totally gone then there wouldn't be much of a chance!. if he all ready has the oral type from kissing u then he would be less likely to get the oral type down south as well!.
how ever was not as lucky!. i got oral herpes on my mouth and down south from my boyfriends healing cold sore during oral sex!.
look up some of the symptoms for herpes with your bf!. if he experiences any of them then have him go to a doctor and get tested for herpes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is possible, but if he doesn't see anything on his penis then he should be fine!. Just don't give him a bj if you feel like you're getting a sore, during, or like right after you had one!. I have genital herpes and my bf eventually got a cold sore after a year, from giving me oral!. He never had cold sores before, but he didn't get a blood test to see if he had HSV1!. So I'm positive it was HSV2 from me!. But HSV1 is a milder strain!.!.!.so it's probably harder to transfer b/w oral and genitals than HSV2!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

those are 2 different strains of the herpes virus!.!.!.!.cold sores is herpes 1 simplex and genital herpes is herpes 2 simplex so no he won't get them "down there" but he may get them around his mouth from kissing!. Read this!.!.!.!.it explains it better:

Herpes is more complex then that!. Cold sores are different then Genital herpes !.!. thers both on seprate strands so you wont give you partner genital herpes from a cold sore!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
