A question about MVP?!

Question: A question about MVP!?
I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse in November!. My doctor said I had trace regurgitation and at the time I was pregnant!.

I had a good pregnancy and no swelling which I was expecting due to MVP and just normal fluid retention during pregnancy!. Anyways, I've become really anxious about it tonight for some reason!. I'm a little overweight still and I guess I'm feeling unhealthy which makes me worry about my heart!. I plan on having another ultrasound of my heart this year, but I was wondering does it sound like something I should be very fearful of!? I had tons of test run on my heart last year due to anxiety, the fear of death because my dad passed away in march of last year and for some reason made me really afraid so i got 3 EKG's blood tests, monitoring, etc!. Should I be afraid of this!? Also, if they did all those other tests, do you think they'd miss something else that could be wrong with my heart!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Please don't worry Mitral valve prolapse or murmur is fairly harmless, rarely causing any major problems, but when you see another doctor or other specialist you should let them know!.

The flip flopping of the heart and feeling faint can be a bit disconcerting, but stopping and resting does help, if symptoms continue then seek medical attention!.

If your still unsure please speak with your doctor, so he/she can give you more information, I would also ask if you need to take antibiotics if having dental work done (may not be necessary, but some people are instructed to)

Here is a page about valve disease you might find useful: http://www!.smart-heart-living!.com/Heart-!.!.!.

You sound like you are very stressed and anxious about this!. My suggestion is to deal with it in a positive way!. Taking action is always better than sitting around worrying, in my experience!.

So, as the web page mentions, once detected, valve problems are generally monitored to ensure stability or detect any problems!. Otherwise, it's important to live a heart healthy lifestyle by controlling body weight, getting adequate exercise and eating a good diet!.!.!. but all under that care of your doctor!.

Information about all of these things can be found on this website: http://www!.smart-heart-living!.com

It really is a good resource for anyone with heart disease and for those wanting to live a heart healthy life!.

Hope this helps!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
