In 2008, an estimated 21,500 adults (13,190 men and 8,310 women) in the United States will be diagnosed with stomach cancer!. It is estimated that 10,880 deaths (6,450 men and 4,430 women) from this disease will occur this year!. Most people diagnosed with stomach cancer are in their 60s and 70s!.

The five-year relative survival rate (percentage of patients who survive at least five years after the cancer is detected, excluding those who die from other diseases) of patients with stomach cancer is about 24%!. This statistic reflects the fact that most cases of stomach cancer are diagnosed when the cancer has already spread to other parts of the body!. If stomach cancer is found before it has spread, the five-year relative survival rate is about 61%!. So her chances are good! They are in her favour!.
You must think positively, you will not lose her!. Most of these operations are successful!. Good Luck to you and your friend!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are many different types of abdominal cancers and people often just call them stomach cancer without realizing this!. Survival for most types of cancer depend on the exact type, stage, grade of tumor, location, the patients age, overall health, and response to treatment!. It is impossible to say how your friend will do at this point!.

Best wishes!.

Hard to say without more information, but it could be she has just a little bit associated with an ulcer or GERD (kind of sounds that way to me anyway)!.
Surgery for this kind of problem should be very successful, and even more serious types of cancer can be treated very well these days, so don't give up!.

Stomach cancer can be treated and sometimes cured!.
It depends how much cancer is there, and if it has spread!.
If it has spread to other areas, that is not good!. Drs usually have a rating Stage 1 confined to one area up to Stage 4 which is terminal!.
Find out what stage it is, it will be on her chart!. Hang in there!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
