Question: Had a cold last week, persistent cough for several days!. See a doc or will it pass!?
I really hate taking antibiotics if it's not going to do anything!. I've had a persistent cough for the last 5 days, not sure at what point I should see a doc for meds, or if I can just wait it out!. I'm getting lots of pleghm so it's not pneumonia or anything!. There is a slight "metallic" taste to it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A cold usually just has to run it's course!. If you have signs of an upper respiratory infection such as yellow phlegm then see the Dr for antibiotics!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
Antibiotics are not affective on colds anyhow!. A cold just has to run it's course!. My pharmacist and I had a chat one day about the over use of antibiotics!. He said when people go to the doctor when they are sick, many of them expect to get some kind of drug or antibiotic and are really upset if the doctor does not give them any!. So, many doctors will give prescriptions for broad spectrum antibiotics, which don't help a cold, and just makes our bodies more immune to antibiotics and makes some strains of viruses mutate and become hard to treat!. For your pleghm, take some Mucinex!. It works really well!. A cough that comes with a cold or the flu often lasts a week or two!. Use some good cough medicine!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
See a Doctor!. A persistent cough for almost a week could mean bronchitis or some other infection!. There have even been cases, though rare of Pertussis (Whooping Cough) in adults!. I don't know about the metallic taste, and I do not know if coughing up pleghm automatically rules out pneumonia!. A lot of it depends on the color, if it is green or yellow it is defiantly an infection!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
