Low blood sugar can give you that run down feeling!.!.!. as can low BP!. it is unusual to have hypoglycemic episodes and NOT be a diabetic!.!.!. the system doesn't usually work that way!. But if this is not new for you, then you should start planning on taking in a little more sugar-y drinks and stuff on a regular basis!.

Now understand that there are disease states that can cause an overproduction of insulin!. If you continue to have these episodes, you need to see your doctor for evaluation!.

Hope this helps!. Doc T- PeaceWww@Answer-Health@Com

My advise is to TEST EVERY HOUR AND eat an appropriate amount of protein!. Following a severe hypoglycemic reaction what you feel is normal!. But, after you elevate your blood glucose to normal you want to make sure it remains elevated in the normal range (that's why you need to test)!. When you treat a hypoglycemic reation the sugar you take spikes quickly to raise your blood glucose level but also breaks down quickly!. You need protein which takes longer to break down to keep it elevated at the normal level!.

My concern for you is having another hypoglycemic reaction while you are asleep!. That is another reason why I reccomend meter testing and protein!.

Also, please call your physician as he/she is familiar with your condition and may have some addtional suggestions!.

MaMa Smurf is wrong that diabetics always (generally, but I know from personal experience not always) wake up from hypoglycemic events and you are at great risk if you believe her about this!. Don't take her word or mine ask an endocrinologist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was hypoglycemic most of my life, and my husband has been the same way!. He really has to make sure that he eats when he should!. When you have hypoglycemia, you need to eat about 6 smaller meals every day!. Make sure they have good carbs in them!. Stay away from things high in sugar because sugar will raise your blood sugar high and fast and then let it drop, and it may drop quickly causing a hypoglycemic episode!. Have snacks in between your meals, just a small one and make sure it contains good carbs, like in peanut butter or some fruits!. If you are going to be more active than usual, be sure to have something like a granola bar, or peanut butter and graham crackers on hand for a snack in case your blood sugar falls!. Hypoglycemia will cause you to feel tired and weak!. Have a visit with a dietitian or a nutritionist to help you learn about good and bad carbs and how to plan your meals!. There is really nothing a doctor uses to treat hypoglycemia other than diet!.!.!.no medications!. He may want to test to see if you may have to much insulin in your body, but this is probably not your problem!. Just learn to eat right and you will have much less problems with it!. In all of my years of being hypoglycemic,!.!.and my husbands and most every other person I have known to have hypoglycemia, if it happens at night, it will wake you up!. Even diabetics that get severe lows while they are sleeping wake up from the effects of low blood sugar!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
