Question for doctors?!

Question: Question for doctors!?
when a child goes in complaining of a sore throat and you look in their mouth what exactly are you looking for!? serious answers only pleaseWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Usually you're looking for strep throat

Only 10% of sore throats are caused by strep, the other 90% are viral!. The difference is that strep can be treated by antibiotics, and if left untreated can have some consequences!.

What a doc is looking for are the signs of strep throat - specifically white pussy tonsils, fevers, cervical lymph nodes, and no other symptoms like congestion/ear infection etc !.

If theyre convinced it's strep they'll prescribe antibiotics, if they're on the fence they'll do a throat swab to diagnose it, and if they believe it's viral they won't prescribeWww@Answer-Health@Com

as the guy who has answered before me had said!. most (almost 90%) of throat infections are viral and the rest are bacterial!.

when doctors look inside the mouth, they try to see the extent of inflammation of the tissue at the end of the throat (so basically to see if there is any swelling and reddnes) they also check if the tonsils are swollen or inflammed!.
they would also try to distinguish between a bacterial and a viral infection!. if it is bacterial there might be whitish sort of spots containing pus!. If viral, the throat would be more pinkish/reddish in colour!. It takes years of experience to master the technique!. sometimes it is impossible to tell apart a viral infection from a bacterial one!. I still get confused sometimes, but my daddy, who has nothing to do with medicine can tell them apart much better than me!! =)

anti-biotics are perscribed for bacterial infections!. However, allopathic medicine can't help in viral infections!. people often use traditional and alternative medicine!. Rest, fluids, hot chicken soup, colloidal silver, lemon, salt and water gargles, honey, vitamin C & E!.!.!.etc they all seem to be beneficial in their own wayWww@Answer-Health@Com

you are looking to the right and left of the uvula!.!.!.
(just incase!.!. the uvula is the dangling thing in the back of the thoat!)

looking for swelling, redness or even white from infection!.!.!.

you are also looking at the lack of eating or the pain while swallowing!!

if any of this persist, it is not a tonsil infection because the tonsils arent big enough yet!
though there would be an infection of the lymph nodes!.!. you would need some amoxacillin for children!.!.!.
if you cant get to the Dr!. try to have child gargle with warm water with salt!.!.!.
if no gargling, then try warm lemon & honey to sooth, but it wont cure!.!.!.

there should be some OTC at Wal-mart called "Broncolin - etiqueta azul" it is a honey & eucalyptis medicine that my 5 year old son loves!!
