Yes, people can die from rabies!. As a matter of fact if the person does not receive a rabies shot within a certain time frame after being infected, they will most certainly die, after being very sick!.
That being said, I do not believe the turtles can carry rabies, so your friend should not have anything to worry about!. I am not an expert on the subject though, so your friend may wish to consult a doctor just to be sure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There's good news and bad news regarding your friend: the bad news is that rabies is always fatal unless a person receives a vaccine; the good news is that only mammals can transmit or carry rabies!. Since turtles are reptiles, they cannot infect someone with rabies!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
First, find that turtle and have it tested!.
Second, go get seen by a doctor to decide if you need rabies vaccines!.
Third, rabies will kill a human!. It doesn't show up until about 2 months after being affected!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
