Does being cold directly give you a virus?!

Question: Does being cold directly give you a virus!?
When people refer to the flu as a cold, does this mean that being cold gives you the flu, or is the flu just easily caught, and being cold just makes your immune system slower and more vunerable to the flu!? I've heard some things about viruses and they don't seem to be able to be made inside you!. Cold will just weaken your immune system right!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You're right!. Being cold does not directly give you the flu, but it can weaken your immune system!. Also, when it is cold outside, people tend to stay inside where the air circulation is not as good and you come into closer contact with each other - this can increase the likelihood that you will catch the flu from someone else!.
Also, a cold and the flu are really different diseases, although the symptoms can be similar and they are transmitted in a similar way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Being cold does not precipitate getting a "cold"!. Consider this: there is some controversy that a minor viral infection may, in fact, cause a bacterial infection: "cold"!. Some viewpoints are just the opposite!.

Bacterial infections are obviously treated with antibiotics while viral infections generally are not!. (exception: herpes type 1/2)!. Drug: Acyclovir, and others!.

Immune system discussions are a separate subject on their own!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do you get sick every time you get cold!? People don't know if they have the cold or the flu so they call what they have a cold!. It has nothing to do with being cold! Being cold and having a cold are two different things! You aren't using English properly! A cold may weaken your immune system, but cold won't!. Being cold does not make your immune system slower!. Having a cold may!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you're cold a lot (like if you work outdoors in the winter and don't dress properly), it is possible it may wear down your resistance, but you won't catch a cold until you are exposed to someone who gives it to you!. Viruses cause colds and flu!. They don't just happen!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Being cold has nothing to do with getting a cold!. The virus is spread through contact with objects or people that are carrying it!. Even being out in the cold will not slow your immune system to a degree that you will get really sick, unless you're out in sub-zero temperatures for weeks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In this sense the word cold has nothing to do with the temperature, its slang for a common illness!. You cannot get sick from being cold, unless you're so cold you get hypothermia!. There needs to be a virus or bacteria present to catch a cold or the flu!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
