Have i stuffed up my thyroids???!

Question: Have i stuffed up my thyroids!?!?!?
Okay guys I'm stressing out about this one! I am not over weight but like all girls wanted to be skinnier!. Through a dodge connection i was given and advised to take Thyroxine sodium 100mg; for those of you who dont know this is used for individuals that suffer from hypothyroidism to elevate their thyroid hormones as they are deficient!. I took it once didnt feel any effects and then thought this is stupid and didnt take it again!. It now been approximately one week and i have noticed that i do not feel hungry whatsoever! I normally have a very healthy appetite; i eat large regular meals, and now i can go with eating a small apple in the morning and that will see me through till night- and even then im not hungry but know i should eat! whats happened!? have i stuffed the hormones that control my metabolism up!? has my thryroid gone lazy!?!?!?!? im really worried- is the reason why im not feeling hungry cos my metabolism has slowed completely down!?!?!?

any advise or insight would be really appreciate, ta Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Thyroxine is the hormone your thyroid produces!. If you only took one dose, it will not do anything to you!. I am assuming you took "100mcg" (micrograms) instead of "100mg" (milligrams)!. When hypothyroid people are prescribed this, they often have to take it for weeks before the thyroxine level in the blood increases much!. Also, too much thyroxine in the blood usually makes someone more hungry, not less!. Don't worry too much about it, but don't take any more!. You can always get your thyroid tested with a simple blood test if it worries you!.

If someone healthy took extra thyroxine, it certainly would cause them to lose weight!. It would also make them ill!. People with an overactive thyroid naturally produce too much thyroxine!. They are usually underweight, tired, over-emotional, anxious/panicky, permanently hot and generally feel rough!. So it's not a good thing to take! Just as a warning, some dodgy 'natural' weight loss supplements are spiked with thyroxine!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to see your doctor to have your thyroid checked!.

Please don't take medications of any kind unless advised by your doctor and then only following investigations by said doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This could be a serious condition - you need to seek medical advice to get a proper answer to this!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
