My new kitty has discharge from her eyes and is drooling...is it an upper respir!

Question: My new kitty has discharge from her eyes and is drooling!.!.!.is it an upper respiratory infection!?
I got a mommy cat from the rescue almost a week ago!. The kittens were 6 wks and weaned but she was still lactating a tiny bit, but they said it was ok to take her!. They said she was a year or younger!. She was very thin but not emaciated so I fed her kitten food a few times to strengthen her up and get some nutrients in her!. I believe she has put on a tiny bit of weight!. She has since begun to dry out and is not actively lactating anymore!.!.!. anyway!.!.!.I noticed and checked right away for earmites, and sure enough, she had them and I have been treating her and cleaning them appropriately with miticide and gave an oral broad spectrum cat wormer as well!.!.!.preventative until her vaccination and spay appointment next week!. She is affectionate but a little aloof, and when I woke ap at 2:30a this morning- 2!.5hrs ago- I didn't see her in one of her usual spots- on the bathroom floor or stretched out on one of the steps!. I looked for a minute or two and became slightly frantic, but found her behind the open door of the computer room!. She had a huge gob of mucus in one of her eyes and she was mouth breathing/drooling!. I wiped her up and called the ER vet- $600 which I don't have!.!.!.Please, tell me I've done ok so far- I researched animal antibiotics and found that Bactrim/Sulfa can be given at 13mg/pound and I administered it to her orally and got most of it down!. I do understand that there is a risk she could be allergic but an hour has passed and no signs of that, at least!. She is still alert although her eyes seem a tad dilated, she is now just sitting on the floor by my dedsk, but still drooling from the mouth!. If it is felines leukemia, would it come on that suddenly!? I don't think so!. I noticed she sneezed- but only twice in the last few days although she has had some very light "crusties" in the eyes since I got her!. I know that URI's are so very common in shelters!. The vet opens in 4 hours and I will be there!. OMG will she make it!? Did I use sound judgement!? Someone please reassure me!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I'd say she needs a vet, but you know that!.
Your judgement sounds okay to me, but I'm not a doctor so what do I know!?

Is she breathing okay!? Does she have strength to stand and walk, etc!.!? The morning my kitten passed away from her URI, we found her lethargic and labored in her breathing!. I think as long as she's alert and breathing fine, she'll probably make it to the vet!.

Please let me know how she turns out!. Like I said, my kitten recently passed away, so I really want to do everything I can to help you!.
