I told myself I'd never live with a smoker but...?!

Question: I told myself I'd never live with a smoker but!.!.!.!?
My mum's started smoking!. All her friends are smokers!. My parents have split up so I can go live with my dad if I really want to!. I don't have anything against smokers I just don't want to live with them for two main reasons!. 1!. I don't want to be influenced, or risk being influenced to start!. 2!. I cannot stand the smell and I'm only 14 so I don't want to be breathing smoke everyday!. What should I do!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

To tell you the truth I hada friend whose parents smoked and I could smell it coming off of her at school!. It was gross!. It's like even if you wash your clothes that smell is permanently stuck on you!. Just move in with your dad!. You will avoid losing friends and having people look at you funny b/c you stink!.
You could try talking to your mom!. Telling her how much it bothers you and you know she's hurting right now, but smoking isn't the way to deal wit her issues!. You sound like a very mature girl!. But also consider that once you start smoking its extremely hard to stop!. So she will need your help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Saying your gonna be influenced is a bit lame because you already know the effects smoking can have on ones health, hence reason 2!.

I totally understand reason 2 though, and I think your mom is being very inconsiderate if she is smoking around you!.

Whether it's her house or not, she shouldn't subject you to second hand smoke!. My mom was a smoker (before she quit, thankfully) and would never smoke around me or my sister!.

Try having a chat with your mom, and tell her that your worried about her smoking, try and see if she'll quit!.

If not, ask her politely if she wouldn't smoke around you because it's worrying you, and take it from there!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If your mom wants to smoke in HER house, then she can!.
My sister and I grew up in a house where my father smoked 3 packs a day, plus he would smoke in the car too, and we turned out healthy still!.
As for the one who mentioned your friends!.
1!. If you lose them, they weren't your friends to begin with!.
2!. They probably have parents who smoke too!. Don't let them fool you about that!. You're the only kid in school who has a parent who smokes!? Please!. What would the odds on that be!? Even you out of all of your friends!. You know the odds on that!? Ridiculous!. Trust me, you have friends, that have parents that smoke!. Just like the poster who made that comment!.
I think you should stay with your mom!. With everything she's gone through, she needs you right now!. Don't be selfish, and think about you!. Think about her!. It may even strengthen your relationship!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

You are lucky that you have the opportunity to choose who you want to live with!. I live with my dad and he smokes!. He told me that if it bothered me he would do it outside, but the smoke still gets in the house!. Second hand smoke is really bad for your health, you might as well be smoking yourself (DON'T) But definitely move in with your dad!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Okay if your mom is smoking inside the house then tell her to smoke outside!. There is no reason for you to start smoking just because your mom is!. That's stupid!. And you wont be "breathing in smoke" everyday unless you are right next to your mom when she is smoking!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the best you can do is talk to her about it!.!.!.!.she's your mom and should be some what understanding!
then again its her home, her rules, try to crack a window if weather permits, buy one of those machines to help reduce smoke!.!.!.
and remember your distaste for it so you never startWww@Answer-Health@Com

You r only 14 you can't survive on your own!. I had parents that smoke and still do but I came out alright!. I don't want to tell you to deal with it but what more can you do!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

i told myself id never smoke, i got over it!. but yeah, go move with your dad, i cant even stand my smell anymoreWww@Answer-Health@Com
