Question: What does AIDS do to u!?
do u die or what!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
HIV (the virus that can lead to AIDS) destroys the immune system by destroying cells our bodies use to fight infection!. (CD4 or Tcells)!. Once this cell count drops, the person would be vulnerable to all other infections, including flu, colds, and pneumonia!. These infections would not be a problem for someone with a relatively healthy immune system, but for someone whose immune system is severely damaged, any of these infections could be fatal!. A person's diagnosis changes from HIV to AIDS when their Tcell count drops to 200 or below!. Technically, people do not die of HIV or AIDS!. They die as a result of complications (other infections) due to the fact that their immune systems can no longer fight off infections!.

That said, although there is no cure for HIV at this point (mostly due to the fact that the virus changes so much), treatment can help people with HIV live longer, healthier, and increase the amount of time between a diagnosis of HIV and diagnosis of AIDS!. Treatments do have side effects, though, and success would depend on whether or not a person follows their doctor's advice and takes meds as prescribed!. Treatment success also depends on the person's response to the medications and to the virus itself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

AIDS destroys the immune system so what happens is the person usually ends up dying from something like pneumonia because the body can not fight off the infection!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
