Was I right?!

Question:

Was I right?

well, about 7 months ago my son came over to me worried, simply because at school someone had jabbed him with a compass in his back. I just checked his shirt but i didn't see any blood there was just a red mark on his back. Then he started to worry about HIV and if he could of caught it from someone in school. I told him he was fine because on the very very small chance someone was infected with HIV in the school,in England, the virus would die upon contact with air. He is still a bit worried so my questions are:

Am i right telling him the virus dies when exposed to air, after a few seconds it dies.

If not then how long does it survive.

would there be enough blood on the compass to transmit the virus

And finally how many children would have HIV in english secondry schools, a specific number

thanks for the answers to give my son peace of mind.

what if their was any blood on the compass though

Answers:

Well you are correct, it dies as soon as it hits air, and there is no way he caught HIV from this, rest easy! HIV is caught through the transmission of infected blood, semen during sexual contact, transfusion, sharing needles, pregnancy. It is RARE to catch it other ways than that.
