Question: I have hypo-thyroid!.!.!.what does that mean!? how does it work!? why do i feel horrible and so tired!?
Answers:
Hypothyroid means that your thyroid glands have insufficient thyroid hormones!. In our body, there are 2 types of it!. T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine)!. It is stimulated by another hormone called the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)!. If you go to a doctor and they measure your thyroid hormones, since you have hypothyroidism, your readings for TSH should be high and your readings for T4 should be low!. T3 is not really indicative when measured for hypothyroidism!.

The reason why you are feeling so horrible and so tired is because almost all our cells have receptors that show high affinity for the thyroid hormone!. There is abundant receptors in the brain, liver, kidney, and also in the muscles and fat!. Because there are so many different systems that have these receptors, therefore you have a general symptoms and signs!. A few of them are tiredness, lethargy, depression, dislike of cold, weight gain, constipation, myalgia (sore or pain muscles) and some general signs like dry skin and hair, bradycardia (slow heart beat)!.

There are a few causes of hypothyroidism!. It can be divided in to autoimmune and acquired!. The most common acquired form of hypothyroidism is iron-deficiency!.

Once you have been prescribed the thyroid meds, you will slowly start to feel like your old self again and the symptoms will go away!. You will need to make sure you are eating the right foods for your body and avoid the foods that make suppress your thyroid like broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, kale and limit alcohol and coffee too!. Drink plenty of water that is bottled (avoid fluoride) and try adding kelp, iron, vit C, L-Tyrosine supplements to your diet to help ease the symptoms a little!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
