Is acute bronchitis contagious?!

Question:

Is acute bronchitis contagious?

Is it contagious, should I be wary? My sister went to a water park a lot, and got too much chlorine from the water in her throat. She had for 2 days w/o seeing a doctor or anything, 'cause she didn't know it was something bad. Later on, her ear started killing her, so she went. Since she didn't get it cured in time, she got an ear infection and almost a monia if she would of waited more. She got the medicine yesterday for it.

Answers:

Acute bronchitis in otherwise healthy people is typically caused by a viral infection, and viral infections can be spread from person to person through direct and indirect contact. You can reduce your risk of "catching" bronchitis through careful hand washing or the use of hand sanitizers.

Sometimes people with chronic bronchitis or asthma also develop acute bronchitis. Such episodes of acute bronchitis, which develop as a complication of a chronic disease, are less likely to be contagious.
