Do I have a digestive disorder?!

Question:

Do I have a digestive disorder?

Since I was around 16, I have had intermittent stomach aches and constant gas. I'm 21 now and I probably should of done something about it sooner, but I've gotten so used to dealing with it. It got noticeably worse about 3 yrs ago. I have not noticed my symptoms get any worse after eating a lot of any specific kind of food (such as dairy), but I don't think I should rule out some sort of food sensitivity as a cause. I tried gasx and beano, but they didn't work at all. I'm thinking about trying a probiotic supplement. So what do you think might be wrong with me? Anyone have the same problem? Should I see a doctor?
Ps. I asked this question before, and it seems a few people misunderstood, so let me clarify. I definitely do not have trouble digesting dairy and I do not have any other symptoms except gas and stomach pains. There's no nausea, diarrhea or constipation.

Answers:

Hi. I would highly suggest getting tested for various food allergies and then getting tested for Celiac Disease. Your symptoms sounded much like mine (except I did get the constipation but everyone is diffferent.) If u ask 200 Celiacs you'll get 200 various symptoms. They are jsut very widespread and vary from person to person. The latent reaction inyour teen and young adults years is very common to Celiac too.
Celiac is an autoimmune disease that makes u unable to digest gluten, a protein in wheat, rye and barley. (Oats are avoided also due to cross contaminatino but dont actually contain gluten themsevles).
1 in 133 ppl have Celiac so think how many ppl in your life have it and dont know it!
Blood testing is easy but does have a high rate of false neg. Its best to see a GI doc who understands and knows about Celiac and he may recommend an endoscopy with biopsy, which is the gold standard.
Please see the sites for more (and better explained!) info than I can give in this short answer.
