How to cope when waiting to get tested for HIV?!

Question:

How to cope when waiting to get tested for HIV?

The question I ask now is more of a personal nature. I recently had unprotected sex about a month ago and still I have about 2 months wait before I can get accurate results from a test.

If you have been through this you can imagine my nerves, how did you cope? How did you keep your mind occupied with other things?

Also, during this time period did any cough, rash or body pain make you almost like a hypochondriac?

Thanking everyone in advance for the mature answers.

Answers:

YES-- I KNOW how you feel---AND YES any little mark--sneeze, cough...if my throat felt a little scratchy---i thought omg this is it---i'm going to the hospice!! i drove my mother nuts who's a nurse---always having her check to see if my glads were swollen--checking my mouth for thrush--you name it i checked for it!!--then I found out---that there is a rapid test!! you get your results in 20 minutes with a finger prick of blood!! it's approved by the FDA and it's 98% accurate.....the counselors who test you keep you occupied with a survey of questions they ask you while you wait for the test to be completed---in the event the test shows a preliminary positive---your blood will be drawn and further testing will be done to confirm the result---call this number to find a clinic that does rapid testing in your area
