Nick Jonas has Juvenile Diabetes or some call it Type 2 diabetes!. It is nothing like regular diabetes which is Type 1!. I know this because my child is Type 1 and I am Type 2!. Juvenile diabetes is when the pancreas stops working and doesn't produce insulin anymore!. This usually occurrs during childhood!. Jonas, like my child, developed his diabetes during his early teens!. When the child and parents are told the diagnosis, they feel like the child's life is over, which does not have to be true!. Some even go through a grieving period or a denial period!. If the diabetes isn't managed properly, eventually blindness, kidney loss, loss of limbs, and even death will eventually occur!. Jonas just wants other kids to know that they aren't alone with their Juvenile Diabetes and that even famous people get it and manage to live somewhat normal lives!. I'm glad Jonas and others like him are out there educating the world about their illness!. Before our child got it, we knew nothing about this kind of diabetes!. I only knew about my kind of diabetes!. We had to take classes on proper diabetic diets, how to give insulin shots, what to do when emergencies pop up, and so many other things!.
