Question: Emphysema help how long can she live!.!.!.!.!?
my mom just got diagnosed with emphysema on 8/21/08
and we got home we have a oxygen mashing!. she has high blood perisher and is coughing a lot!. i don't know what to do or how long she has she stopped smocking!. but i don't know I'm only 14 and she is all i got and i am all she gots!. plz help me she is on steroids makes her blood sager high help meeeeeeee

If your mom does what the doctors she could live a long time!.
My mom had emphysema and lived to be 73 years old!. I have it to and I have been on oxygen for 3 years and I plan on living a long time!. I can't do everything I use to do but I do alot of things!. Your mom will to but she has to do what the doctors say and she will drive, shop and enjoy the rest of her long life!. Hope this helped youWww@Answer-Health@Com

Just chill! Emphasema is very slow moving!. Once on the meds she will get better!. She could live a full life even with emphasema and die in old age of something else entirely!. Supposedly only 20% of the people with emphysema even know they have it, and that is because it is so slow acting!. Also, she could have a transplant, stem cell therapy!.!.!. sky is the limit in the upcomming years!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

She has the high blood pressure BECAUSE she stopped smoking!! It always does that!. The damage is done so why fight it!.
Yes the corticosteroids do indeed increase blood sugar levels!. She will have to take insulins in a couple of years to get the numbers down again!. It also increases blood pressure, cholesterol, and weight!! Bad stuff, and extremely dangerous in a long haul!.
She has to cough or she will die tomorrow of pneumonia!. That is the rule!!! So don't worry about the coughing, yes it is highly aggravating to her and those around her!.
The thing is she could die tomorrow of this or she could live for another 40 years!. We just don't know how long we each have on this earth!.
My explainations come from every time I go to the doctor's office, she hands me another Rx for another condition and I am getting really tired of having to eliminate some other thing I really want to do from my life in order to take this other medication!!
I!. too, have emphasema, diabetes, high blood pressure and every other nastiness your mother has!. I sympathize with her and hope for the best!.
We can either learn to live with these conditions or we can give up and die!. There are no other choices!
I promised a little girl some 30 years ago that I wasn't going to die without telling her in advance what was happening!. She was petrified that I would leave her alone without her Mommy! So now she is understanding what is happening and getting her head around the fact that she must live for the next 30 to 60 years without her Mommy!. You can do this also!. Just give it to the Lord in prayer and don't take it back!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
