Council problems?!

Question:

Council problems?

I live in a 1 bedroom flat with my wife and baby, we keep getting severe damp and mould which has caused eczema and continous coughs and cold to my son.My wife is also asthmatic. We are very overcrowded, can anyone give me any advice or someone to get in touch with to get moved into a 2 bedroom property. We live in council property.

Answers:

right
1, ask for a building supervisor to inspect the premises, take pictures of the mould etc.
2, keep a diary of cougs colds, visits to the doctor
3, make an official written complaint to your housing officer.
if nothing is done..
4, get letters off health visitor, social services and doctor
5, go and see your local councillor taking evidence (photos diary & letters)
6, contact the housing ombisman (sorry unsure of the address you will find it in yellow pages) with copies of all of the above including any response from the council, and other housing association details that you are on their lists.

this should get you moved in to another suitable property, which as you now have a child will be a 2 bed. this will work if followed correctly, i work in housing and have seen this work! alternatively if you ahve a sympathetic housing officer, just put in for a transfer!

good luck :)
