Question: Asthma- need an inhaler for the weekend!?
Hi!. I rang my local surgery about getting a n emergency prescription for an inhaler today!. She said that she could not do it over the phone and that I would have to go and get it which is a 15 minute walk!. However, I currently experiencing mild breathing difficulties due to my asthma and the walk will only aggravate the condition!. Shall I just leave it and have a weekend of inactivity and hope for the best!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Being an asthma suffer myself I do sympathise with you, but I think it would be worth the 15 min walk, at least at the end of it you would have some relief to your breathing problem, if you don't have an inhaler for the whole weekend and you end up having an asthma attack, you could end up in hospital!. Which is worse, you have to decide!. I know what I would do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, I would take a slow walk and get to the surgery!. It sounds ominously as if you are only looking for a reliever inhaler such as Bricanyl or Ventolin, when I suspect that you should be getting a preventer such as an inhaled steroid +/- a long acting beta2 agonist!. Try and arrange an appointment with a doctor who actually knows something about this common and manageable condition!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have asthma as well and I drink hot tea (lipton with antioxidants) it helps me tremendously!. It seems that the herbs in the tea bag when hot act as the albuterol inhaler!. Good Luck! Www@Answer-Health@Com
