Clear.now acne treatment system any good? what other alternatives?!

Question:

Clear.now acne treatment system any good? what other alternatives?

i began to use proactiv 2 yrs ago, but it stopped working for me about a year ago. i began to use Clean&Clear and then switched to Aveno. A few weeks ago, a skin consultant/ PhD student, spotted me on my college campus and asked me what i use for my acne. i finally realized that many people do notice my acne and at how my acne was really visible and red. so she suggested clear.now and i've been using clear.now for 3 weeks and so far i haven't seen many good results. i still get acne flare-ups like huge pimples with pus. really gross. my skin is sensitive and oily and i have some facial hair so that really sucks.
also, what do you do to prevent acne breakouts, like do you supplement the use of clear.now with good diet and exercise?
when did you begin to first see clear results that the system was working for you?
hope you can get back to me, it would be great to get some answers.
my father suggests to see a dermatalogist and my mother wants me to use natural herbs and dove soap...??

Okay here's the scoop.
If you've been using over-the-counter products and they haven't worked in a month, see a dermatologist or at least a family doctor.
Cystic acne is better treated with tetracycline, an antibiotic or with a medication called aldactone. If those don't work after a month, accutane is used.
At home you should wash with a mild cleanser such as neutrogenia, cetaphi, or any hypoallergenic, non-pore clogging facial cleanser or bar twice a day. Then you should apply a benzoyl peroxide product (any brand) with at least 6% benzoyl peroxide in it in the morning, followed by a non-pore-clogging sensitive skin or hypoallerginic moisturizer.
At night you wash and apply an acne product with salicylic acid in it.
Almay has a nice three step regimine that is affordable.

Like I said, see a doctor. Most over-the-counter products all have either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid in them. The benz. peroxide work on red pimples and the acid helps prevent black heads.

A dermatologist has a whole range of much more effective products.

Cystic acne is not treatable with over the counter products. They might help, but you will continue to break out. Use a free and sensitive antibacterial cleanser for faces, but go get good treatment. Antibiotics are cheap and will work much better. Continue with home treatment as well and make sure you list everything you tried, how well it worked, when the acne started, what makes it worse (humidity, stress, sports, etc.) and what, if anything makes it better (sun). Take that info to the doc when you go as well as your insurance card, any other meds you take, what you wash with daily, and a list of anything else you use on your skin. Be persistant. Acne can be hard to treat, but hang in there until you clear up.

Dietary adjustments would include plenty of water, less sugar, and a good multi-vitamin, but usually acne is genetic and not something you are or are not doing. Make sure the doc knows you have sensitive skin. Ask what the side effects of your treatment are, how long before you can expect results, if there are any reactions with other meds, foods, or sunlight, and have them right down your plan.

Good luck. Hope this helps.
