Answers:
I think all children born in the UK still get the BCG vaccine!. However, the nature of the fat coated TB bug is such that the body's water based immune system cannot destroy it and walls it off in scar tissue(=tubercules)!. If you had active TB and were given the jab you would precipitate a major immune response in say the lungs and cause a lot of damage!.Therefore, if an asian came over to the UK, they would first be given the Mantoux/Heaf test to see were they previously vaccinated or are suffering from TB!.

The value of the BCG is not considered to be great!. It turns out I have no BCG and tested negative on the mantoux test!. My doctor advised me not to get vaccinated as its protection is minor but knowing you have a negative mantoux at one stage allows a rapid diagnosis and treatment i!.e!. the negative mantoux result was more valuable than getting the jab which would offer poor protection from TB and would delay a rapid diagnosis of TB should I get it!.

Interestingly, in american I don't think they vaccinate against TB but use the BCG vaccine as an injection into the bladder for prople with bladder cancer where it causes a huge immune response and drives away the tumor:)Www@Answer-Health@Com

think you have it in year 9 at school, i missed mine 2 years in a row and had to have it in year 11, been 5 years and i cant even see my scar!.
i imagine if it stops me getting tb then its a good thing right, so the nanny state informs me anywaysWww@Answer-Health@Com
