Do chigger bugs stay in your clothes?!

Question:

Do chigger bugs stay in your clothes?

alright i think i got bitten by some chiggers(or spiders) my biggest concern is i found 3 new bites on my torso 2 days after the ones on my feet appeared. these are smaller and not itchy yet. (the ones on my feet and ankles were big mosquito looking bites that itch like crazy) Do i need to wash everything in my house or are these bugs (chiggers?)gone?

Answers:

They are still on your body but probably not in your clothes or bed. The stage of a chigger that bites and feeds off a host like people and animals is the larvee, not the adult, so they are not going to multiply but one chigger will bite you multiple times.

First thing you need to do is kill them. Chiggers do not burrow into the skin as once believed. There are a couple of ways to kill them. The shampoo sold for head lice (RID) will kill them for sure. I have also heard of bathing in a tub with a cup of clorox added to it. I use the lice shampoo. Then the bites must heal. Until then you need to stop the itch. Anti-Itch creams and pain relievers might help.

An old remedy was to put finger nail polish on the bites. This idea was originally an attempt to kill them when it was though that the bug borrowed into the skin. It won't kill the bug but it does seem to help the itching. Some think it helps by keeping air away from the irritated skin.
