Question: Is this some type of virus!? urgent, please help!?

i have 3 canker-type sores on my tongue that hurt so bad i can barely talk or eat, and they have just popped up without warning!. my throat also hurts and as of 10 minutes ago there is a random bump in the middle of my lip!. this has all happened within the past 4 days!. i went to the doctor and they didn't seem to care about the sores but i got a strep test!. could these be caused by some sort of virus!? how long will it take to go away!? any input is appreciated, as i am extremely frustrated!.
