Damn these other people answered this questions so stoupidly you can only get an std from making out if the person has a herpes type 1 coldsore on their lip at the time you kiss them however if they have herpes type 1 and there are no coldsores and you kiss them then you won't get anything also stds are spread by body fluids but not saliva so kissing is not a problem Www@Answer-Health@Com
ok saliva is a body fluid!.!.!.duh!?!?!?!? why do you think mono is called the "kissing disease"!! mono is a herpes virus!.!.just not an std!.!.!.both hsv's can be spread by saliva (lower frequency)!. the virus is shed in body fluids as well as the skin during outbreaks! that's why it is possible to spread when you are not having an outbreak!!
and if your make-out session includes touching genitals and/or grinding, that makes you even more at risk because skin to skin contact will spread hsv and hpv!.
