Heart test?!
Question:
Heart test?
My Dr. wants me to have a test to see what my heart is doing with Mitral Valve prolapse. He says this is a new test and doesn't have to be an arteriogram which I am afraid to have. Has anyone had this new test that they inject dye and make pictures of the heart as the dye goes through it to see what is happening to your heart? They tell me this test last one for 2 hours and one for 4 hours. If anyone knows about this new test please answer as I have to have it soon and need to know. Thanks for any help by anyone who may have had this done recently--This supposed to take the place of the arteriogram!
Answers:
I don't know how new it is but what you are describing sounds like a MUGA, MUltiple Gated Acquisition scan.
When I had my first one it took two days. First day they injected a radioactive dye / tag and I layed in the machine for a few hours and then I came back the second day and laid in the machine ( without an injection).
It's supposed to be really good / better than an echo.
I don't know about it being a replacement for an angiogram, I've had them too.
