Brain bleed?!

Question:

Brain bleed?

Just got a call from home (canada) to say that my dad is in intensive care with bleeding on the brain. I was wondering what the chances of survival are? It wasnt an anyerism or a stroke and I am wondering if he will live?

My dad is 62, I am 33 weeks pregnant and trying to get a flight from Glasgow, he has major high blood pressure and they said it has affected the left side of his brain. They said if he gets through it it would mean memory loss and or speech probs.

Answers:

it depends what type of bleed it is
-sub-dural
-extra-dural
-sub-arachnoid
they are classified as to which meningi (layer) of the brain they appear. Sub arachnoid is particularly risky and has the highest chance of death. as we dont know anything about your dad we cant give you a prognosis-but his Dr can so i think he's the best person to talk to if possible.

p.s i have just read the extra bit of your question-if it is affecting only one side of the brain it is not a sub-arachnoid, as blood collects around the whole brain (simply put) so hopefully his chances are slightly better x
