Please look....Blood Sugar Question?!

Question:

Please look....Blood Sugar Question?

I know there is a disease where you produce too much inuslin. If you could let me know the name of this and when you check your sugar what will your readings be? I know they will be low, but how low?

Once I was at a party and I was piggin' out, then my sister was getting her blood sugar tested ( before we realized she was diabetic) and hers was in the 400's. I was curious to see if mine were that high, so I checked mine too, I was 72 then checked it 10 minutes later and then was 67. Are these low enough readings to be concerned about?

Answers:

Low blood sugar levels are referred to as hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia itself is not a disease, but may be an indicator of a health problem. The symptoms associated with hypoglycemia may include fatigue, hunger, shakiness, confusion, headaches, sweating, weakness, or blurry vision. This condition occurs most commonly among diabetics who accidentally take too much insulin (or other diabetic medication), thereby depleting the amount of glucose in the blood. Hypoglycemia can also result from the combination of too much exercise and too little food intake. When hypoglycemia occurs without a known cause in someone who does not have diabetes, it is referred to as “idiopathic hypoglycemia.” This type of hypoglycemia could result from problems associated with the pancreas (which produces insulin), the liver, the levels of hormones produced by the pituitary and thyroid glands, alcohol consumption, or taking certain medications. Normal blood glucose levels are typically considered to range from 50 to 100 mg/dL. However, only a doctor’s complete evaluation would be able to tell you whether your typical blood glucose levels are too low or whether any other symptoms you experience might be of concern.
