Baby confined to hotel room?!

Question:

Baby confined to hotel room?

my 12 months grandson is in majorca with his mother and other nanny, he has got chickenpox. and is not allowed out of the room, any ideas on how long he will be confined to the room, they are flying home next tuesday, and it will be a shame if he has to stay in there until then, and his poor mother will be going mad by then

Answers:

My 2 darlings recently had the pox so I did quite a bit of research. The general consensus is it its contagious until when the last spots have scabbed over. This is usually between 5 and 7 days, occasionally up to 10 days from onset of the rash.

I am surprised by some of the answers on here, when my kids were poorly with it I found a wealth of info on the net!

Everything I read from reputable medical sites has stated that a child is considered to be infectious until the last spots have scabbed over, a minimum of 5 and an expected maximum of 10 days. Bad news, sorry! But at least forewarned is fore-armed!

I hope the poor kid is feeling better, does the room have a balcony at least? I know it must be a pain for the whole family, very bad timing! At least it will be out of the way though, next holiday should hopefully be better!
